Optometrist
Dr. Scott Kawakami received his Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE with honors and went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA with honors. His internships in Tucson, AZ and Lawton, OK focused on ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. His internship in Honolulu, HI focused on providing primary care services to US Naval personnel. Finally, his internship in Fullerton, CA focused on primary care as well as low vision and contact lenses. During his time at optometry school, he was also part of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society.
In his practice, Dr. Kawakami focuses on primary care optometry. This includes the prescription of glasses and contacts as well as diagnosing and managing ocular disease ranging from common conditions like dry eyes and cataracts to eye emergencies like retinal detachments. He aims to provide high quality service during his exams because that is what he believes every patient deserves. Educating his patients about their eyes in a manner that is understandable and relatable is also of high importance to him. He hopes they can use that knowledge to live their best lives.
Outside of work, Dr. Kawakami loves hiking, nature walks, exercising, martial arts, discovering tasty restaurants, and exploring new cities.
